Chakchiuma Swamp Community Clean-up Day
Our Mission:
Fellowship with nature and each other as we freshen up Lee Tartt Nature Preserve. We have several exciting events lined up for the coming months, and taking advantage of the cooler weather by tidying up trails, clearing trash, water sealing the boardwalk and working on our border fencing.
Saturday, September 26th. 9 am - 2 pm
Join our group of committed volunteers for a 'tidy-up' at Lee Tartt Nature Preserve. Great opportunity to collect those Volunteer credit hours!
TASK LIST:
North Trail:
remove invasive plants from the forest by pulling or sawing
Widen and restore foot trail by cutting back overhead limbs, vines, fallen branches
Collect trash from public use areas
Handy helpers:
collect trash and debris from roadside and public use areas
Maintain & restore roadway leading to boardwalk area
There will be some tools and supplies available. Please bring your own if you have them. We will provide gloves & garbage bags, and a cooler of water.
TOOLS AND SUPPLIES NEEDED:
bow saw
anvil pruner
machete
work gloves
trash grabber
kayak or canoe
Chainsaw
Rake
Shovel
WHAT TO BRING:
waterproof shoes or boots (recommended)
hat
sunscreen
bug spray
layers of clothes
chair (if you want one for breaks)
Don’t forget your water bottle & coffee mug!
As always, FREE and open to all ages. Guests will participate at their own risk.
